Bentley SUV on the road by 2016, sales target of 3,000 units
During the annual conference on the 2013 budget, Bentley offered the first picture of its first ever SUV that will be marketed from 2016.
It will be the most powerful and luxurious SUV on the market and, as pointed out by Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive at Bentley Motors, the new model will create a completely new segment in the SUV market.
The SUV forms part of Bentley's 800 million pound investment in new model and facilities development in the next three years. Bentley has also anticipated a minimun sales volume target: at least 3,000 units per year.
Bentley also announced that its Crewe headquarters will become the centre of excellence for the Volkswagen Group for all 12-cylinder engine production from the end of 2014 onwards.
With this decision, Bentley will export engines for the first time in its history, creating around 100 jobs across the business. Bentley expects to produce up to 9,000 engines per year at peak times.
Finally, a quick overview on the 2013 results. Bentley has increased by 66.9 % its operating profit to 167.7 million euros and its revenues by 15.5% to 1.68 billion (it's a record) with its profit margin that rose from 7% to 10%. Sales were up 19% to 10,120 units.
