BMW plans new expansion in China for 5-Series
After having postponed last year, BMW is now preparing a new offensive in China by exploiting the well-established joint venture with local Brilliance, very active in the area of Shengyang.
The Bavarian carmaker, in agreement with the partner, must decide whether to expand the current production capacity or whether to build a new plant in view of the debut of the new generation of the 5 Series.
BMW Brilliance Automotive Limited is located in the Dadong district of Shengyang city in the province of Liaoning. BMW Brilliance has more than 13,000 associates (including induced), and it currently manufactures the BMW 5-Series Long Wheelbase, the BMW 3-Series Long Wheelbase and standard version, and the BMW X1 compact SAV.
In addition to Dadong (with a current annual production capacity of 100,000 units), BMW is also active in Tiexi site that has the same capacity.
