Infiniti mulls first EV with eye on China
In a recent interview at the headquarter in Hong Kong, President Roland Krüger anticipated the Infiniti's goal of developing its first all-electric car with an eye to China where currently the Nissan Group's premium brand distributes nine models, six of which are powered by petrol and three hybrid.
"When I think about our EV, we design it for China definitely, even as the first market to launch," added Krüger.
In recent years, in terms of alternative fuel models, Infiniti has focused in particular on hybrid cars because they have more autonomy, but the idea of an EV version is not new.
The brand had in fact anticipated a future zero-emission car with the LE concept shown in 2012, but the project was then frozen.
For the development of its first electric model, Infiniti will benefit from the experience in this sector of Renault-Nissan Alliance.
