On March 28, BMW will announce the X7 in Spartanburg
We should find out all the details next Friday, March 28, when (according to the Wall Street Journal) BMW will officially announce the future production launch of the new X7 that will be built at the U.S. plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The Bavarian company will spend several hundred million dollars to expand the plant in order to build the seven-seat X7, expected on the market in early 2017, and destined to have success especially in the U.S.
The production capacity is currently being expanded to build 350,000 units a year, but it would boost to 400,000 vehicles annually. Recently, CEO Norbert Reithofer has anticipated that BMW was thinking of strengthening the capacity of Spartanburg factory.
The plant already builds the X3, X5 and X6 crossovers, of which roughly half are exported to more than 130 countries. The new X4 goes into production by the end of this year.
