Mercedes builds 2 millionth vehicles at Alabama plant since 1997
A new prestigious production milestone for Mercedes in the U.S. The German automaker has produced its 2 millionth vehicle at the Tuscaloosa plant, Alabama, where it began auto production in 1997.
To get into the history of the factory is a white ML 350 BlueTec, which is bound for an internal customer in Germany.
The milestone was celebrated with a special ceremony. Mercedes reached the 1 million vehicle milestone in 2007.
Along with the M-Class, the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa also produces the GL-Class SUV and R-Class crossover. And, last month they launched production of the C-Class sedan. A new SUV is expected to join the assembly lines next year. In 2013, the plant produced more than 185,000 vehicles.
