Mercedes builds a battery factory in the United States
Mercedes has started work in the United States for the construction of a battery production factory for future electric SUVs of the EQ range.
The new plant will rise a few kilometers away from the Mercedes production factory in Tuscaloosa, in the county of Bibb in Alabama, from which the first units of the new GLE began to come out last week.
Mercedes will invest 1 billion dollars in the new Tuscaloosa battery factory, which will add up to more than 6 billion that the German manufacturer has already invested in the US plant since 1995.
The company expects that, once completed, this additional investment will bring over 600 additional jobs at the Alabama plant.
