Mercedes starts production of its long-wheelbase E-Class in China
The consolidated joint venture Beijing Benz Automotive between Mercedes and the local BAIC has started production of the new long-wheelbase Mercedes E-Class at the Chinese plant in Beijing, on the same shift that currently hosts the assembly of C-Class.
Even the previous two generations of the E-Class "long-wheelbase" were built at the Chinese plant.
The production start of the new long-wheelbase E-Class represents yet another milestone in the partnership between Daimler and BAIC, which last year celebrated the 10th anniversary of its birth.
Activities in the adjacent engine plant will be upgraded.
