Mercedes starts production of the long-wheelbase C-Class in China
Not even six months after the start of production of the new C-Class in Bremen, Mercedes has begun the production of a long-wheelbase version of the C-Class at the Beijing Chinese plant, managed by the joint venture Beijing Benz Automotive. It was the first time that Mercedes had proposed a C-Class sedan with a longer wheelbase.
Designed and produced exclusively for the Chinese market, the C-Class "long" will debut locally in September and the new model has been developed after the success of the previous series of the classic C-Class, sold in over 150 thousand units.
Now the C-Class is thus assembled in four plants worldwide with Tuscaloosa (USA) and East London (South Africa) to support Bremen and Beijing.
