Mercedes will produce the GLA at its Brazilian plant in 2016
Mercedes has officially launched the new GLA in Brazil, at the moment only as imported car. Sales start in October and the car will be made locally from 2016 at Daimler's new plant in Iracemápolis, São Paulo state.
This compact SUV, goes on sale with a turbocharged, 1.6-litre and 154 bhp petrol engine with seven-speed, double-clutch, automated gearbox.
The new model will try to find important spaces in this segment in Brazil, where production will start in 2016 also with engines range that are very popular in the South American country, as the flex fuel.
The Brazilian GLA has the most advanced safety systems and driver assistance to make the car attractive to local consumers. Particularly appreciated is the drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.31 that is surprisingly low for the class.
