Suzuki starts construction of its first wholly owned factory in India
More than 30 years ago Suzuki entered as protagonist in the Indian market through its joint venture with Maruti. Waiting to see if the partner will be part of the new project, the Japanese carmaker has now begun construction of its first wholly owned factory in India.
The factory will be built in the "Detroit" of India, in the Gujarat region, and it will have an initial capacity of about 250,000 units a year starting in mid 2017. Subsequently, the new factory complex will eventually house two other plants, but with Maruti.
