Today BMW is 100 years old: the target is to remain leader in the premium segment
This is an historic day for BMW. Today, March 7, the Bavarian carmaker is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding and is ready to face with renewed optimism the future challenges for the next decades.
The crucial turning point for the future of BMW came in 1960 when the company decided to leave its core business activities reserved for planes to focus on automotive and motorcycle activities.
Since then, BMW has made huge improvement, also taking advantage of the contribution of new MINI and Rolls-Royce brands, the Group has become in recent times the world leader in the premium segment.
The goal of the new CEO Harald Krüger is to consolidate the leadership, defending it from attack by Mercedes (who sent greetings to Monaco) and Audi.
