VW: 1 million units produced at Kaluga plant
The solemn ceremony to mark the production milestone is scheduled for tomorrow. The VW Group is celebrating the assembly of the first millionth car built at its Russian plant in Kaluga.
The factory was inaugurated in November 2007 and it has an annual production capacity of 225,000 units.
Currently at the plant are producced Polo and Tiguan Volkswagen models and Skoda Rapid, but the factory also hosts a shift dedicated to the production of gasoline engines, opened in 2015 at a rate of 150,000 units per year. VW has already invested 1 billion euros in Kaluga.
