VW to start production of its Tiguan also in India
Volkswagen has started production of its Tiguan sport utility in India, at its plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra region, where other models of the German group branded Audi and Skoda are also produced.
Both the Tiguan with Indian specifications and the Passat, which is also expected soon to the commercial debut in the country, were unveiled at the Auto Expo in New Delhi a year ago.
Tiguan is among other things the first Volkswagen car destined to the emerging Asian market to be developed on the Group's MQB modular platform. It will challenge Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.
